PETALING JAYA: A singer has been arrested for alleged domestic abuse.

       Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comn Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the incident occurred at 2.29pm on Tuesday.

       "A 27-year-old woman was in the parking lot of the residence of her ex-husband at Kota Damansara to pick up their son when the incident occurred.

       "Investigations revealed the incident was sparked from an argument when the woman refused to be photographed with her ex-husband," he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 20).

       He said the suspect got angry and beat the victim, causing bruises and swelling on her body.

       "We arrested the 45-year-old suspect at his home on Wednesday to assist further investigations.

       "A urine test came back negative on the suspect," he said, adding that they would obtain a remand order on the suspect on Thursday (April 21).

       "We have opened investigations for domestic violence and voluntarily causing hurt," ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said.
