UNIVERSITI Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Indian Student Representatives Club has published a book commemorating its 24th Ilakkiya Payanam (Literary Journey) festival, Makkal Osai reported.
Club president Devakumar Arangkannan said the event this year was themed “Puthu Yugam” (New Era) and featured literary competitions including poetry writing and recitals. The festival and the competitions are aimed at promoting the Tamil language and literature among students. Selected entries and submissions from the event were compiled into a book for sale.
The proceeds from the event were used to help Tamil school students under a new initiative by the club, deputy president Thayashree Muniandy said.
