The five-year-old horse was introduced to the future King of England, while he was visiting a farm in the hamlet of Nevern. The Duke of Cornwall appeared delighted to make the acquaintance of the horse, which shares a name with his seven-year-old grandson. He told John Fletcher, its owner: “It's so wonderful of you. Thank you so much for bringing him.”

Mr Fletcher explained to the Prince of Wales that the horse earned its keep by pulling old carriages for funerals and weddings, as well as plowing fields.

The equine Prince George weighs around one-ton, but still has some growing left to do, according to its owner.

Prince Charles was keen to know whether the farm had any stallions, only to be told that the mares were sent to stud in North Wales.

A chuckling Charles replied: "That must be very exciting.”

The Prince was visiting Wales to help celebrate the centenary of the Church in Wales.

He started his day by attending a service at St David's Cathedral, before setting off to visit churches around Pembrokeshire.

The Duke of Cornwall travelled to Nevern to learn about the restoration of the local St. Brynach's church bells.

One of the three Ellacombe beeps was named after Agatha Christie, the famous author.

Her grandson, Mathew Prichard, donated £510,000 to help fund part of the restoration.

During the visit to the church, Prince Charles tried his hand at ringing the bells.

Before the restoration, the bells had not been rung for 120 years.
