OSAKA -- A man who reported the discovery of a body in a home in Osaka's Chuo Ward in October was arrested on Dec. 6 on suspicion of murder, Osaka Prefectural Police said.
The 65-year-old suspect, a South Korean national identified as Kim Hwan-hui, was apparently an acquaintance of the male victim, and was the first person to discover his body. Police said he has remained silent.
The deceased is believed to be Kazuo Yatsuda, a company manager aged 67 at the time. Kim was earlier indicted on a charge of assaulting the victim on a daily basis. Police are examining possible motives.
Kim is suspected of hitting the victim in the head and shoulder with a tool or other blunt object on Sept. 29, causing him to die from shock brought on by loss of blood.
