PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices will remain unchanged from Aug 5 to Aug 11, says the Finance Ministry.
In a statement on Wednesday (Aug 4), it said that the retail price for RON97 and RON95 petrol would remain at RM2.74 and RM2.05 per litre, respectively.
The price of diesel remains unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.
The ministry also said that to protect consumers from global oil price increases, the government would maintain its ceiling price of RON95 petrol at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, despite increases beyond the current ceiling price.
"The government will continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people," the ministry added.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5, 2019, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
