KAJANG: A father and his two sons have been arrested for allegedly growing and selling ganja here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said they raided a house in Semenyih on Friday (June 25).

"We arrested a 58-year-old man and his two sons aged 25 and 31 during the raid at a luxury bungalow at 10pm. During the raid we found eight cannabis trees and 23 bottles containing dried leaves believed to be ganja," he said.

ACP Mohd Zaid told reporters at the Kajang police headquarters on Monday (June 28) that police also seized equipment used to cultivate the plants, such as ultraviolet lamps, oxygen tanks, coolers, booster fans, and heat lamps.

"Investigations revealed the three Singaporean men were supposed to be here selling perfume. They purchased the seeds from a US-based website and spent nearly four months cultivating the plants and selling the leaves online,” he said.

"They would find buyers via social media and courier the leaves to them," said ACP Mohd Zaid, adding that the suspects were distributing the drugs in Malaysia and were also planning to distribute the drugs to neighbouring countries.

He said the drugs seized were worth at least RM19,000 here.

"We also seized a pick-up truck which we believed was purchased with proceeds of drug sales," he said adding that one of the suspects also tested positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

He urged those with information on similar cases or criminal activities to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
