PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 28,298 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday (March 16), bringing the total number of infections to 3,900,433 since the pandemic began, says the Health Ministry.
The Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 698 of the new Covid-19 infections were imported cases while the remaining 27,600 cases were local transmissions.
It also said that 33,009 Covid-19 patients recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries in Malaysia to 3,567,003 cases since the pandemic began.
There are currently 299,331 active cases in the country, with 289,043 or 96.6% observing home quarantine and 2,082 or 0.7% admitted to low-risk quarantine and treatment facilities.
A total of 7832 Covid-19 patients are currently seeking treatment at hospitals nationwide, with 374 warded in intensive care units (ICU). A total of 233 of the ICU admissions require ventilator support while the remaining 141 do not.
