The Scottish journalist and broadcaster shared well-wishes for Lily Ebert, a 98-year-old survivor of the holocaust. Lily is a founder member of the Holocaust Survivors Centre and has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Holocaust education.

Lily’s birthday milestone was shared by her great-grandson Dov Forman on Twitter.

In an adorable photo, Lily can be seen beaming while sitting in front of a table decked with hundreds of birthday cards.

Cuddly toys and flowers are also visible, along with at least three helium balloons for Lily’s special day.

Accompanying an image of his great-grandma, Dov wrote: “Today my incredible great grandma Lily Ebert, a Holocaust survivor, turns 98!!”

He also included a quote from Lily, who said “I never expected to survive Auschwitz.

“Now, at 98, I celebrate surrounded by my family - the Nazis did not win!”

Her great-grandson also thanked the thousands of people who had sent birthday cards and well wishes for Lily’s birthday.

In addition, numerous well-known names joined in to celebrate and honour her remarkable life.

Dov, aged 18, co-authored the Sunday Times bestseller ‘Lily’s Promise’ with his great-grandma during the pandemic.

The book, which was released in September, is an account of Lily Ebert’s experiences during the Holocaust.

Within its pages, Lily details her time in the Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

At the age of sixteen, Dov was separated from Lily during the Covid pandemic for the first time.

As a result, he became determined to record her story for posterity.
