KOTA KINABALU: Help will be given to the victims of the recent floods in Kampung Sugud, assures Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Sabah Chief Minister said the 937 flood victims from Kampung Sugud would each receive emergency cash assistance of RM1,000 from the state government.
The state government would also help flood victims in terms of materials needed to repair their houses, he said after visiting the village on Tuesday (Sept 21).
In addition, 10 houses that were swept away during the recent floods will be rebuilt as well, Hajiji added.
He said these are immediate assistance to folks here who were among the hardest hit.
"The state government will ensure they get assistance from both the state and federal governments," he said
Meanwhile, Hajiji said that two flood mitigation packages have been completed as part of long term measures to mitigate floods in the Penampang district.
"Only one more package has yet to be completed,” he said.
