PETALING JAYA: Most businesses continued complying with preventive Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) during the first phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), says the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

       Ministry enforcement officers conducted checks on 8,516 premises nationwide between June 28 and July 2 and found 81 businesses owners not complying with SOP.

       “A total of RM402,500 in compound notices were issued to businesses that flouted SOP, 20 of whom were found to be operating without proper permission,” the ministry’s enforcement division said in a statement on Saturday (July 3).

       Other offences include failing to practise physical distancing, failing to register details manually or using MySejahtera, failing to wear facemasks and opening beyond the approved operating hours.

       The enforcement division said that throughout the five-day period, about 98.5% of businesses were found to be complying while another 1.25% of premises were let go with a warning.

       Only 0.1% of premises were issued compound notices.

       The ministry advised business owners to strictly comply with SOP to stem the spread of Covid-19.
