KOTA KINABALU: Former banker Siaw Kok Chee has been appointed financial advisor to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

       Hajiji presented the letter of appointment to Siaw at Menara Kinabalu here on Monday (Feb 5).

       Siaw, who has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Charles Stuart, Australia and a BA (Hons) Finance with Accounting from the University of East London, has 38 years' commercial, corporate and retail banking experience

       According to a statement from the Chief Minister's office, Siaw was responsible for overall performance and human resources development in the East Malaysia-Sabah and Labuan Region with the RHB Banking Group.

       During his service with the group, he was regional head/regional director for 20 years.

       According to the statement, Siaw went through five bank mergers – among them D&C Bank Berhad and Kwong Yip Bank Berhad; RHB Bank Berhad and Sime Bank Berhad; and RHB Bank Berhad and OSK Berhad – and successfully led the restructured and reorganised Sabah and Labuan region operations.
