KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will convene on Sunday (May 15) in a bid to amend its constitution to enable party polls to be conducted after the general election.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 2pm at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre here, with about 2,000 delegates expected to attend.

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will open the meeting with a speech.

The tabling of a motion to amend the party's constitution will be made by vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who has just arrived home from the US-Asean Special Summit in Washington DC will also attend.

Umno is also celebrating its 76th anniversary and will hold a Hari Raya open house Sunday.
