KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman’s Special Investigations Unit has taken over the probe into the case where several Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers were allegedly involved in a gang robbery which incurred RM700,000 in losses.
Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan confirmed that two more MACC officers were arrested.
“The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery. The two officers arrested are aged 37 and 39. Both have been remanded until Dec 19,” he said in a statement.
Comm Abd Jalil urged the public to give the police space to conduct a transparent and fair investigation.
“The investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor soon,” he said.
The latest arrest brings the number of MACC officers held to assist in the probe to three so far.
The anti-graft body also confirmed the arrest via a statement.
“We will give full cooperation to the police and will not compromise or protect any officers involved in crime,” it said.
On Saturday, it was reported that two individuals, including an officer of an enforcement agency, were arrested by the police after they were suspected of being involved in a gang robbery at a house in Jalan Ampang.
