KUALA LUMPUR: ATA IMS Bhd has given its commitment to the government to further improve its environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
In a statement yesterday, the company said it looks forward to working closely with the Human Resources Ministry and other relevant authorities to become a “model” company in the electronics manufacturing service (EMS) industry.
“As a homegrown Malaysian company, we will ensure compliance with Malaysia’s national laws without compromise as we are committed to achieving and exceeding the standards to be one of the best EMS providers.
“Our employees are our strength, and their wellbeing and welfare are central to our business,” the company pointed out in the statement.
Meanwhile, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said that ATA’s positive compliance with International Labour Organisation’s standards, showed that the company is moving towards achieving the industry benchmarks for ESG improvement.
“I encourage ATA and other industry players to be steadfast in efforts to resolve workplace issues and to constantly improve standards and practices to ensure an inclusive and positive business continuity,” he said after visiting the company.
The minister, who was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Human Resources, Johor Department of Labour and Human Resources Development Corp, was pleased with the conducive working environment at the company’s factories and found that ATA’s employee accommodations to be at a satisfactory level, according to the statement.
