KUWAIT CITY, June 27, (Agencies): The Communications Authority is following in the footsteps of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to cancel all work exemptions and continue with the fingerprint attendance system, reports Al-Rai daily. The CSC decision to resume work using the fingerprint attendance system has encouraged other government agencies to take similar steps, as the Communication & Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) followed in the CSC footsteps, announcing the resumption of fingerprint attendance, as of July 25 next.

In a circular similar to what the CSC issued recently, the authority has suspended all cases of exemption from work, except in the case of a pregnant employee who has not received the two doses of the vaccine, a physically handicapped employee, and an employee who suffers from one of the following chronic diseases — heart disease, kidney failure, cancer, provided the employee suffering from any of these diseases submits a certificate from a competent medical authority affiliated to the Ministry of Health.

The authority has also cancelled the flexible working hours, rotation and return to work with 100% attendance without prejudice to the aforementioned exemption cases. The authority restored the official working hours (7 hours), starting from half past seven in the morning to two thirty in the afternoon. In its circular, states employees are required to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that conforms to the standards of the Ministry of Health at the same time emphasizing the need to adhere to the health and precautionary requirements put in place by the health authorities.

The circular goes into effect from Sunday, July 25, 2021. The government agencies have started to take the necessary steps for the resumption of work in full capacity; taking into consideration the increasing rate of vaccination against coronavirus among citizens and expatriates, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources. Sources said the ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Oil, Communication, Higher Education, Education, Communication; as well as the Financial Controllers Bureau, Kuwait Investment Authority, Public Authority for Manpower, Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects between the private and public sectors, Public Authority for Industry, Criminal Investigation General Department, Kuwait Credit Bank, and Civil Service Commission have obtained approval for the resumption of work of 100 percent of their employees.
