Meghan Markle will ‘no doubt’ be on hand to ‘assist’ Prince Harry in tell-all book

The Duke of Sussex is putting pen to paper on his first literary memoir and plans to release his story to the world in late 2022. Harry, 36, said the book will be an "accurate and wholly truthful" account of his life.

But royal commentator Grant Harrold expects the narrative to have the Duchess of Sussex’s fingerprints all over it.

The former butler for the Prince of Wales told Express.co.uk: “As Prince Harry's wife, I have no doubt Meghan will be there to assist him with this book and possibly its content too.

“This book sounds like it is going to be very personal.

“So I believe it will be very much Harry's book.”

Last month Meghan released her debut children’s book, The Bench, and it told the story of the special bond between father and son.

Harry will join a small club of members of the Royal Family who have written a memoir.

Sarah, the Duchess of York, has released two with the first published in 1996.

Mr Harrold added: “Royals in the past have written books, however Prince Harry writing his memoirs is rather unique.

She said: “The family must be despairing, this is a man who they all love and he seems to be doing his best to embarrass and damage his family.

"I think it's a bit early to be writing a proper memoir, I imagine it is self-justification and it's exploring himself, and finding himself, but it's going to be, I suspect, at other people's expense."

A representative of the Sussexes said the Duke had spoken privately to the Royal Family about his memoir "very recently".

Meanwhile, Harry could have further stories up his sleeve as some reports suggest he has signed a four-book deal.

Royal insiders insist the Duke has a multi-book agreement, including one to be released only when his grandmother, The Queen, passes away.

But close friend and author Omid Scobie has claimed those reports are “wide of the mark”.

Prince Harry broke the news of his memoir earlier this week, he said: "I'm writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

"I've worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story - the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned - I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

"I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I've learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first-hand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful."
