He added that food aid comprising essential items such as rice, flour, oil and diapers had been given out to needy people of all races.“Since Hari Raya Aidiladha is around the corner, our focus now is on helping those celebrating the occasion.
“As such, the items we are giving out this time can be used to prepare a festive meal. This includes chicken, instant ketupat and vegetables,” he said in an interview.

He said most of the items were donated by companies and individuals, adding that a total of 400 sets of the sponsored items had been distributed.
Bus driver Ahmad Samad, who is the sole breadwinner of a family of five, was among the recipients.
“Although I suffered from a big pay cut, I am lucky as I still have a job. Some of my friends are not as fortunate,” said the father of three.
“The food aid will allow me and my family to have a simple Aidiladha meal,” the 47-year-old added.Another recipient, bus driver Amin Mislin, also thanked the donors and volunteers for the aid.
“Although we may not be able to enjoy Aidiladha like we did in previous years, at least we can have a simple celebration at home.
“Many people are facing a tough time. It is heartening to see people coming forward to help despite facing difficulties themselves,” said Amin, 57.
