KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation paper has been opened into allegations that Perikatan Nasional tried to bribe the King in a bid to overthrow the government.
“Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 into allegations of Perikatan’s attempted bribery of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain in a statement.
He said that four reports had been lodged.
“The case is being investigated. We advise the public to refrain from any speculation or comments,” he said, adding that the investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers upon completion.
He said four people had been called in to have their statements recorded over the so-called Dubai Move, under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The four were Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop, Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Che’Gu Bard, Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris (Papagomo), and Salim Iskandar.
Police confirmed that their statements have been recorded.

Last month, Ismail spoke of a Dubai Move in which some Opposition and government leaders, who were in United Arab Emirates at the time, were involved in the alleged plot.
Several Perikatan leaders have since denied their involvement.
On Wednesday, Ahmad Ikhwan Fadhli, an aide to Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, lodged a police report urging for a probe into allegations raised in a blog that there was a RM1bil attempted bribe to the King in a plot to oust the government.
Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has brushed aside such talk, saying that the allegations are outrageous.
