KUALA LUMPUR: Police will call up several individuals who organised a protest outside the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex on Monday (Feb 21).
The protest took place as single mother Loh Siew Hong’s habeas corpus hearing was being heard at the Kuala Lumpur High Court that day.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said police have opened investigations into an alleged breach of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
“I can confirm that we have opened investigations into the case under Rule 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations for gathering in large groups and violating SOP.
“We have identified several individuals who are believed to have organised the gathering,” he said, adding that they would be called in to have their statements recorded soon.
Loh was seeking the immediate release of her three children, from the care of the Welfare Department in Perlis.
Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah ordered for the immediate release of the children from the care of the Welfare Department to Loh.
Loh was separated from her 14-year-old twin daughters and 10-year-old son for three years when her former husband took the children away.
They had been under the care of an Islamic organisation and had been converted to Islam with the consent of their father, who is now in jail for a drug offence.
