PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang has denied allegations claiming that he owns shares in some companies, as alleged by certain quarters.
The Anti-Corruption Advisory Board chairman said that he does not own any shares and has no links to any companies.
"I do not have any stake in any companies. You can check it yourself," he said at a press conference at the MACC headquarters.
He was asked to respond to the allegations made by Edisi Khas that claimed that Abu Zahar owned multiple shares in a few companies.
Abu Zahar explained that he used to own a law firm under his own name, and was responsible for managing the company.
He added that he has since suspended his practising certificate and had handed it over to his partner.
This is after he was advised not to be involved in any companies when he was appointed as the Dewan Negara president in 2010.
"I am flabbergasted with what is going on now. I do not know what they are up to and am no longer a politician," he said.
Abu Zahar held the position of the Dewan Negara president from April 2010 until April 2016.
