KLANG: Three policemen have been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be investigated for alleged graft.
According to an MACC source, the policemen are suspected of soliciting and receiving cash of about RM2,000 from an individual.
The bribe was allegedly an inducement for them to not issue a compound notice to the individual for flouting the movement control order.
All three will be brought to the Shah Alam Court on Wednesday (June 30) for a remand order to be obtained.
According to the source, the three policemen had confronted the individual on June 25 when he was unloading some stones at his sister's house in Shah Alam, which was undergoing renovations.
One of the detained policemen allegedly sought and received cash from the individual in exchange for not reporting him to the police patrol unit to be issued a compound notice between RM20,000 and RM50,000 as the activity he was doing was not allowed during the MCO.
The three suspects, aged 26 to 31, were detained when they presented themselves at the Selangor MACC office for their statements to be recorded at about 6pm on Tuesday (June 29).
Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim has confirmed the arrests.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) MACC Act 2009.
