Telco CEO arrested for alleged graft worth over RM200,000

       JOHOR BARU: The chief executive officer of a telecommunication company has been arrested on suspicion of graft involving more than RM200,000.

       Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed that the 43-year-old suspect was arrested at the Selangor MACC office at around 8pm Monday (June 13).

       The suspect was said to have asked for and accepted more than RM200,000 as an inducement to approve a project to build and repair telecommunication towers worth close to RM50mil in April last year.

       He allegedly accepted the money from another company.

       The suspect was brought to the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (June 14), where magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali allowed him to be remanded for four days for investigation.

       The suspect will be remanded until June 17 for investigations under 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009, said Azmi.
