JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional's Ling Tian Soon is a well-known figure in Yong Peng because he is a leader who is always on the ground, assisting people regardless of race, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Ayer Hitam MP visited Ling's operation centre in the Yong Peng state seat, which has been dubbed "Teratak Ah Soon", on Thursday (March 3).
"Ling, who is fondly known as 'Ah Soon', and his team always organise meetings to discuss local issues.
"There are many pictures in Teratak Ah Soon, mostly consisting of stories of regular people.
"Ah Soon is very popular in Yong Peng because he is always on the ground assisting everyone, regardless of race," the MCA president said in a Facebook post on Thursday (March 3).
Ling, 38, is locked in a three-cornered fight against Perikatan Nasional's Susan Yong and Pakatan Harapan's Alan Tee Boon Tsong in the Yong Peng state seat.
During the 14th General Election in 2018, Ling lost to DAP's Chew Peck Choo by a 5,089 majority. Chew recently announced her retirement from politics to focus on her family.
MCA will be contesting 15 seats in the Johor state election. Polling is on March 12.
