PUTRAJAYA: The public should refrain from jumping to conclusions over allegations of corruption involving the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Speaking to reporters after the Road Transport Department Hari Raya celebration here on Tuesday (May 31), the Transport Minister noted that anyone found to be involved in corrupt practices would face stern action.

"For now, let the authorities investigate.

"The public should also not make any speculation on this," he said.

On Monday (May 30), Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) said it took a serious view of media reports quoting sources who claimed there were elements of bribery in public transport infrastructure construction projects.

"Prasarana does not (tolerate) any form of corruption in all its affairs.

"We will closely follow the development of the case and liaise with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to get an accurate picture before taking follow-up measures," the statement read.
