PETALING JAYA: In a bid to do their part to help Malaysians affected by the ongoing floods, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) charity platform kitajaga.co has introduced an app for Malaysians who are either seeking help or wish to offer it.

       The app, accessible at kitajaga.co/banjir, will provide the exact location of flood victims seeking help as well as those offering assistance.

       "We have activated 'banjir mode' at kitajaga.

       "Those affected by the flash flood, please press 'Perlu Bantu' (need help). Those who want to help, please press 'Ingin Bantu' (offer help)," kitajaga.co tweeted.

       A quick check by The Star showed hundreds of "wave" pins, which represents those looking for help.

       There were also some "lifebuoy" pins, about one third if the previous number, representing those offering assistance.

       "Requesting immediate assistance. There are eight children, five adults and two elderly trapped in a house.

       "Please help immediately, a baby is sick," said Mohd Ridhuan, located in Kampung Baru Hicom, Shah Alam.

       "Need a boat. The first floor has been inundated. Double-storey house. There are kids here. We've been waiting for a boat for a long time. No food," said Sunthari, located in Seksyen 20, Shah Alam.

       "Water has risen to level two. The reception is not good. Cannot be contacted. Please help," said Marianne Ng, located in Taman Mutiara Kemuning, Shah Alam.

       Aira, located in Cyberjaya, who is offering assistance, said; "I can help transport a small load, give dry clothes, food, sanitary pads and anything else within my capabilities,"

       The app will also show other information such as how much aid a person has received, or if they are under Covid-19 quarantine.
