KUALA LUMPUR: A army veteran who has been living in his car for the past 20 years has been offered a residential unit by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

DBKL said former Armed Forces personnel Mohd Redzuan Abdullah had been offered a unit in the Seri Johor 4C Public Housing in Cheras here.

"Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim will personally hand over the housing offer letter to the military veteran soon," DBKL said in a statement on Wednesday (June 1).

On Tuesday (may 31) political secretary to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Mustapa Kamal Mohd Yusoff; Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory board member Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Mohd Rafique and DBKL Community Development and Urban Wellbeing Department director Ismadi Sakirin, visited Mohd Redzuan.

Mohd Redzuan's plight also caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who asked for the army veteran to be given a transit house in the near future with the cooperation of the Federal Territories Ministry. – Bernama
