JOHOR BARU: All 56 Johor assemblymen have been given the green light to attend the state assembly meeting, which starts today, after they tested negative for Covid-19.

       They include public works, infrastructure and transportation committee chairman Solihan Badri, who is Tenang assemblyman, and Mahkota assemblyman Muhamad Said Jonit of PKR, who moved from Parti Amanah Negara early this year.

       Both were given the approval to attend the one-week state assembly meeting upon completing their quarantine period. They had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier.

       Johor agriculture, agro-based and rural development committee chairman Datuk Samsolbari Jamali said each of the 29 government assemblymen including Solihan would be present.

       “All of us tested negative for Covid-19 and have been given the go-ahead by the authorities to attend the meeting,” he added.

       Meanwhile, Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said all 27 assemblymen from the Opposition bench also tested negative for Covid-19.

       The state Opposition chief, who is Parit Yaani assemblyman, said that he expects all Opposition assemblymen including Muhamad Said to attend the meeting.

       “So far, I have yet to receive any report from our assemblymen saying they are unable to attend the meeting due to Covid-19.

       “This also includes Muhamad Said who was quarantined more than 21 days and is now in good health,” he added.

       Last Thursday, State Speaker Suhaizan Kayat said all 56 assemblymen and officers attending the meeting must go for a swab test on Monday.

       Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar is scheduled to open the state assembly meeting held at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar today.
