PETALING JAYA: The Umno General Assembly 2021, scheduled to be held in January next year, has been postponed to another date that will be announced later due to the ongoing flood situation, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The party secretary-general said that the president, deputy president and the supreme council members have agreed to postpone it.

"The Umno General Assembly, which is supposed to be held from Jan 12 to 15, 2022, will be postponed to another date which will be announced later," he said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 25).

Ahmad explained that the decision was made due to the flood that occurred in many areas and that Umno grassroots leaders have been mobilised to help the flood victims.

"Some divisions such as Kota Raja and Klang are still unable to hold division meetings due to floods," he added.

According to him, the Umno General Assembly normally involves nearly 6,000 grassroots leaders from various Women, Youth and Puteri wings from 191 divisions and thousands more observers from across the country.
