PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 17,134 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Feb 9), says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the cumulative number of cases in the country to 2,956,332 since the pandemic began.
He added that only 86, or 0.5%, of Wednesday's new cases were in categories three, four and five.
In a tweet, Dr Noor Hisham said 17,048 of the new cases were in categories one and two, and where either asymptomatic or only displayed mild symptoms.
He also said that a more detailed breakdown of Wednesday's Covid-19 situation would be uploaded to the Health Ministry's CovidNow portal at midnight.
