KUALA LUMPUR: Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd unit has bagged a RM258mil contract for the construction of main building works for a proposed residential development in Plentong, Johor, through its wholly-owned subsidiary.

       This is the group’s sixth contract win for this year, bringing its year-to-date contract wins to RM907.6mil. Its current outstanding order book stands at RM3.6bil, which will provide earnings visibility for the next three years.

       In a statement, Kerjaya said its unit Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd accepted a letter of award from Teguh Harian Build-Tech Sdn Bhd for the project, covering the construction of main building works for three blocks of apartments with common areas and mechanical and electrical facilities, and a 12-storey podium carpark.

       Construction is expected to start on Nov 1 and it will take 36 months to complete.

       Kerjaya CEO Tee Eng Tiong attributed the latest contract win to the group’s expertise and good reputation in building good quality high-rise building.

       Tee said amid the challenging environment caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the group managed to secure RM907.6mil worth of contracts so far this year.

       “We are confident of winning more contracts for the rest of the year and achieve our internal order book replenishment target of RM1bil for 2021.

       “With the country achieving more than 90% vaccination rate for its adult population and the gradual opening of our economy, we foresee a better outlook for the construction industry,” he added.
