SEREMBAN: A former company director has claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to 65 counts of committing criminal breach of trust involving almost RM585,000 belonging to two companies.

Yap Pin Eng, 34, who was director of CM Express Sdn Bhd and Cell City Delivery Sdn Bhd at the time of the alleged offences, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to her before judge Diana Md Razali on Wednesday (March 23).

She was alleged to have committed the offences at a bank here between July 5, 2019 and Dec 2, 2020.

Yap was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between two and 20 years, whipping and a fine.

The accused, who was represented by counsel A. Partheeban from the Legal Aid Bureau, appealed for a low bail as she had to provide for her three schoolgoing children.

She also told the court that she was estranged from her husband and had not been employed since December 2020.

However, deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Zulfikri Mohd Nasir urged the court not to offer bail but if it was considering to do so, the amount should be set at RM300,000.

Diana then offered bail of RM30,000 for all the charges and ordered the accused to surrender her passport to the court and report to the Seremban 2 police station once a month until her case is settled.

She also fixed April 25 for next mention.

       Yap posted bail.
