KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's Covid-19 daily cases is showing an upward trend based on the 14-day chart, says state Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

However, he said this was not surprising taking into account the relaxation of restrictions previously imposed on various economic and social activities, coupled with the declining standard operating procedure (SOP) adherence among the people.

Sabah's new cases on Saturday (Oct 30) jumped to 650, an increase of 61 infections from 589 recorded the day before.

"We would like to remind the community again on the need to adhere to all SOP even if fully vaccinated.

"Vaccines do not make us immune to the virus, and new cases showed that on average, 60% of the daily infections involved those who have been fully inoculated," he added.

Masidi also noted that there were no cases involving late registration of over five days in the latest figure.

"Some 392 cases or 60.3% are those which occurred and were reported in the last 24 hours.

"Meanwhile, 244 infections or 37.5% are backlog from two to three days (since the cases were confirmed), while the remaining 14 are those registered late between four to five days.

"This is a sign that the state Health Department data system is improving," he said.

Earlier, Masidi tweeted that following Sabah's plan to allow interstate travel from Monday (Nov 1), non-Sabahan travelers from Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak need only to show proof that they are fully vaccinated, as well as a negative result in RTK screening.

"The SOP for domestic travel/social visit is being updated," he tweeted.
