KOTA KINABALU: More people in the interiors, islands and outskirts of the city will now be vaccinated, thanks to the arrival of the second batch of CanSino vaccine to Sabah.

A total of 43,200 doses of the single-dose vaccine arrived at around 9.05am at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport yesterday.

Deputy State Secretary Datuk Masnah Matsalleh said the vaccine would be prioritised for remote areas, adding that allocations for these locations were set by the Health Ministry. She noted that the second batch had added on to the 50,800 doses which arrived here on Tuesday.

Masnah, who is also the Sabah Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force director, said the additional vaccine supplies would boost the state’s immunisation effort.

Apart from the CanSino vaccine, Sabah also received 70,000 doses of SinoVac yesterday, and is expected to get another 86,000 doses of the CanSino vaccine tomorrow.

She said that on Monday, Sabah had received a total of 252,720 doses of vaccines that included the Pfizer ones as well.

Sabah recorded a total of 3, 224 new Covid-19 cases on Aug 25.
