KUALA LUMPUR: British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (BAT Malaysia) has appointed Nedal Salem as its new managing director (MD).

       BAT Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat said the appointment was following the resignation of the current MD, Jonathan Reed, who would take up the role of group head of combustibles with British American Tobacco PLC (the group) from Sept 1, 2021.

       "On behalf of the board, we thank Jonathan for his visionary leadership and accomplishments

       during his tenure as MD.

       "We have seen a remarkable business turnaround under his leadership and wish Jonathan the very best in his next appointment,” he said in a statement today.

       Nedal is currently the MD and chief executive officer of Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC. - Bernama
