KLANG: The Selangor state government will kickstart its Covid-19 vaccination programme for youngsters aged 12 and above on Sunday (Oct 24).

       In a statement issued Friday (Oct 22), Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the first leg of the exercise under the state's Youth SelVax Programme will kickstart at the Klang Municipal Council multipurpose hall in Pandamaran Jaya here.

       "The Youth SelVax Programme will be initiated in several vaccination centres (PPV) at the Port Klang, Tanjung Sepat, Bukit Lanjan and Pandamaran state assembly constituencies, among others, and will operate from 9am to 5pm," said Amirudin.

       He added the programme will utilise the pre-registration procedures through voucher codes in the SELangkah application like how it was done previously.

       "Schools will be given specific voucher codes that will enable students to self-register on the SELangkah application," said Amirudin.

       He said the state's healthcare facilitator Selcare will help with the registration process for students who do not have cell phones or access to the SELanglah application.

       "Schools will also be provided with vaccination consent forms for parents to fill before vaccination is administered," said Amirudin.

       According to the Mentri Besar, so far, 3,416 names of students have been received and this encompassed 1,235 students from the state's integrated tahfiz schools, 1,181 from integrated primary religious schools and 1,000 names of students from other tahfiz schools in the state.

       Amirudin said, in addition to school students, the vaccination programme is also open to youngsters who are not schooling, as well as citizens and non-citizens who have yet to receive their first dose appointments, as well as those who have missed their second dose appointments under SELvax.

       "To ensure that no one in Selangor misses out on being vaccinated, the community SELvax programme will be continued in all Selcare clinics beginning Oct 28 and panel clinics throughout Selangor beginning Nov 1," added Amirudin.

       The vaccination initiative for youngsters is part of the Selangor government's efforts to expedite youth vaccination, as well as help make the process of opening educational institutions in Selangor run smoothly.

       Information on the SELvax programme can be obtained via its social media platform, the SELangkah application, as well as from the state's Media Selangor.
