KUALA LUMPUR: Seat distribution among Pakatan Harapan coalition members for the Melaka state polls will be decided “within one or two days”, says Mohamad Sabu.
However, the Parti Amanah Negara president said that discussions among coalition members are still ongoing.
"It is still being discussed, but it will be decided within one or two days," he told reporters here in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 27).
Mohamad was asked to comment on Pakatan's seat allocation distribution for the Melaka state polls.
Nominations for the Melaka state election have been set for Nov 8, while election day will be on Nov 20.
Asked if any of the four assemblymen who triggered the collapse of the Melaka state government will join Amanah, he replied, "It is still at the discussion level."
"There are pros and cons. But we are still discussing it," he said.
Asked regarding Malaysian United Democratic Alliance party (Muda)'s intention to contest in the Melaka polls, Mohamad said that it is better to have one candidate representing the opposition.
"We are willing to discuss with any parties. If possible, only one candidate representing the opposition (bloc).
"If for the other side, it is up to them," he added.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also confirmed that discussion is still ongoing whether Pakatan will accept the four assemblymen.
The PKR president also expressed concern and urged the government to review the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Melaka state polls, as it will be hard for authorities to implement it effectively.
"It is impossible that we can control and guarantee the implementation of the SOP effectively. However, Pakatan will try our best to follow and observe it," he said.
The Port Dickson MP said that he had visited Melaka recently and was forced to cancel all of his programmes including those held in warungs.
"I am not willing to risk the health of the people in Melaka due to my attendance," he said.
On Oct 24, Health Ministry Khairy Jamaluddin said a ban was placed on all political gatherings in Melaka from Oct 25 to Nov 27.
