KOTA KINABALU: Telecommunications companies in the country are urged to redirect profits to provide better quality Internet services.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said with the government preparing and spending so much on providing infrastructure for better telecommunications services, the quality provided by telecommunication companies must be on par.
Noting that although many areas in Sabah have limited access to telecommunications, infrastructure such as towers have been prepared by the government, hence the “last mile” equipment and hardware provided by telecommunications companies must be comparable.
He said he does not feel proud when telcos reveal the millions or billions in profits, when customer satisfaction with their services is not there.
“I want telcos to make a profit, but we must make sure that customers are happy with the speed and connectivity of the Internet,” Annuar said after an event at the RTM Sabah complex here yesterday.
