AMPANG: Two men were detained for allegedly stealing alcoholic beverages from a supermarket in Pandan Indah.

       Ampang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said a police patrol team spotted a female supermarket employee shouting for help while chasing after two men at about 4am on Wednesday (Feb 23).

       "The patrol team managed to detain the suspects some 50m from the supermarket and seized two packages containing 12 cans of beer worth RM78.

       "The suspects, aged 28 and 34, have been remanded until Saturday (Feb 26)," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

       The case was classified under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building or structure, he added.

       ACP Mohamad Farouk commended assistance from the public in curbing crime.

       "However, they need to be more careful and don't take actions that endanger their lives," he said.
