A FAMILY of five with two cats and a dog have demanded a bigger home as their little girl, three, struggles to breathe in the "mouldy" flat.

Mum Charlotte Wainwright is begging for a three-bed house - and says she cries herself to sleep at night.

The 23-year-old, husband Bradley and their children Harry, one, Elli Grace, three, and Thomas, four - as well as the three pets - currently live in a two-bed flat in Oldham, Manchester. The property is managed by Aspire Housing.

She said: “We are overcrowded. We can’t have three children in one room.

“It affects my daughter's health. She needs her own room with a dehumidifier. We need the extra room.

“Aspire Housing has said to keep cleaning the mould, which I have been doing, but it’s making my daughter’s health worse.

"I asked for someone to come out and they said it’s just a case of cleaning."

She said little Elli has a bad cough and complains of pains in her chest.

“It makes her throw up because of how much pain she is in," Charlotte said.

       “It’s affecting us mentally.

"I've got so much to deal with through health issues of my own. My youngest son Harry is under the hospital's care for a spinal deformity and under investigation for epilepsy."

But the company is currently ignoring the family's pleas for an "emergency move", the mum said.

“I’ve done everything I can to move but it’s not working," she added.

“My concerns are that my daughter's health will get worse.

"We have got no room. We are very cramped. I’ve tried my best to clean it but the mould spores keep getting worse.

       'I CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP'

“My daughter needs her own room and I have expressed my concerns to Aspire and we are still being told all we need to do is keep bidding.

“I’m more than disappointed. I’m extremely annoyed. I am fuming. I cried myself to sleep."

Jon Dickin of Aspire Housing said: “We are aware of Ms Wainwright’s housing situation, and we have been supporting her to process her home move application.

“While we will always support customers to move, our home move process is managed in partnership with external services, and certain requirements must be fulfilled before a move is possible."

He said a surveyor will visit the home to look for damp in October.

“We will continue to support Ms Wainwright to find a suitable home, and we encourage all our customers to speak to us about changes in their living circumstances," he added.
