A huge fire has erupted in a town in Staffordshire with residents urged to close their windows and doors as smoke billows for miles - with residents in the area reporting hearing what "sounded like a bomb going off" before the blaze erupted early this morning.
All businesses have been ordered to evacuate after the fire broke out close to the A460 Orbital Island in Cannock.
Staffordshire Fire tweeted: "Large incident in Cannock, fire Fighters are asking all residents to close windows and doors due to smoke and all local businesses to evacuate.
"We have a very large scale incident close to the orbital islands in Cannock. We have 10 fire engines in attendance supported by specialist equipment and officers.
"Some roads closures are in place."
Speaking to BBC West Midlands later, SFRS's Deputy Chief Fire Officer Glynn Luznyj said the blaze broke out at a massive warehouse belonging to distribution company Super Smart Service just before 6am.
There are no reports of any casualties at present, he said, but firefighters are likely to need to spend at least two days making the area safe.
