Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has revealed his plan to solve the illegal migrant crisis – detain and deport. Mass deportations are the only way to end the “pull” the UK exerts for thousands of illegal migrants. Corralling them on secure military bases would also protect Britons amid a shocking reported 62% rise in sex crimes by foreign criminals. Our national good will has been pushed to the limit.
We can see with our own eyes that the vast majority of illegal migrants are young men coming from failed states looking for the lottery win of free housing and social benefits, plus the opportunity to work in the black market – or possibly in lucrative crime rackets. They gamble on our liberal woolly-headed and incompetent politicians and civil servants – and generally win, leapfrogging the asylum system by paying gangsters. Labour’s pledge to fast-track asylum claims means just opening the door even wider.

It is a system that doesn't benefit anyone. Except the economic migrants risking their lives to cross the Channel in small boats. And the criminal gangs getting rich off their trade.
So it is refreshing to see a politician cut through this delusion and despair with a pledge for direct action. And where there is a will there is always a way.

At the heart of our own migration shambles is the fetishisation of international law. Ever since ex-PM Tony Blair shifted decisions away from MPs to unelected lawyers and judges, we’ve been unable to protect our borders.
Hordes of open-border leftists have used the ECHR to frustrate deportations, even finding reasons to keep foreign criminals on our soil. Counter-protestors opposing mostly ordinary locals upset by having migrant hotels in their home towns are in reality predominantly hard-left activists backed by the Socialist Workers Party.
Farage is right to challenge the left wing conspiracy to undermine border security and the best way to do that is to depart from international legal agreements, like the ECHR, that hobble any efforts to reject illegal migrants from the very beginning.
Many left-wingers presume they are future voters for Labour – possibly the most egregious case of gerrymandering ever. Yes, a few asylum seekers are genuine refugees fleeing foreign persecution, but their cases are being undermined by the ranks of devious economic migrants exploiting our age-old welcome.
Our armed forces were helped by some Afghans, but many of the thousands now claiming asylum because of Ministry of Defence errors are taking advantage of that. The Home Office is failing deplorably to identify the few genuine claimants from the many wanting everything from us and yet giving little back.
The migrant crisis is bequeathing our children a monumental bill of many billions of pounds for all the housing, education, healthcare and benefits needed for the million-plus migrants arriving in the UK who have not paid a penny in tax.
A recent estimate by the Centre for Policy Studies is that the lifetime fiscal cost of immigrants is ￡ 234billion or the equivalent of ￡8,200 per British household – and that estimate is only going to get bigger.
It is a great relief that we finally have a political party devoted to ending this madness, especially as the Conservative government elected in 2019 to stem the flow only made it worse. Much, much worse.

“We cannot be responsible for the sins of the world,” said Farage in his speech yesterday. And he’s quite right that it’s time we put British human rights ahead of foreign human rights. It is the primary duty of our government to look after our borders and our citizens. That this is the emphasis now being put on the issue is welcome for the millions of Britons who never voted for a policy of mass uncontrolled migration.
Why are our concerns being ignored by those who think they know better than us and want us to be the refugee camp for the world? It’s simply not fair and not sustainable, threatening severe damage to our economy and culture.
It’s good that at least someone is speaking up for the concerns of the silent majority. It’s just a pity we have to wait so long for the next election.
