School board aims to raise more funds

       THE school board of SJK(T) Sungai Bakap in Seberang Perai, Penang, is hoping to raise additional funds to complete the school’s new building.

       Makkal Osai reported that board chairman Mohan Chinniah said the school’s new 1.6ha plot in Taman Seruling Mas was gazetted in April 2020 with building works starting the following month with an allocation of RM3.5mil.

       The school, which was opened in 1948 on a 0.2 ha land belonging to a Chinese kongsi received evacuation orders in 2016.

       After several false starts, the school is about to get a proper new building with work expected to be completed in April 2024.

       However, additional funds are required to complete the building.

       > The daily also reported that police officers in Andhra Pradesh, India, adjudicated a dispute between four boys after one of them was accused of “stealing” a pencil from another went viral online.The boys, aged around five to 10, turned up at the police station on their own asking the police for help.

       One of the boys accused his friend of stealing his pencil and demanded the police lock him up.

       The police advised them to take such disputes to their parents.

       The boys eventually made peace and went home.
