A bomb disposal unit has been pictured in Foxroyd Lane, Thornhill. The unit was in attendance after reports of "suspicious items" in a house.

       The police have since cordoned off the area due to the threat.

       Firefighters and paramedics are also in the area which is cordoned off.

       A statement has since been released by West Yorkshire Police.

       The statement said: "Police are currently in attendance at an address on Foxroyd Lane, Dewsbury after officers searching the property found a small number of potentially suspicious packages.

       "The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team have been called to attend to examine the packages and to ensure a safe removal.

       "A police cordon remains in place at this time and a number of houses in close proximity to the address have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

       "Enquiries remain ongoing."

       Chief Inspector James Troisi of Kirklees Police said: "I appreciate that there may be concern in the community about this, but we have a number of local officers in the area and it is absolutely standard procedure to evacuate nearby properties in such situations as a precaution.

       "Anyone with information that may assist with enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting log 776 of 10/11."

       West Yorkshire Police have since added that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal finished their work at the property.

       This work concluded just after 5pm.

       Enquiries continue to be ongoing into the incident.
