QUETTA: The counterterrorism department (CTD) of Balo-chistan police claimed to have foiled an attempted terror attack in Quetta, killing two alleged terrorists, including a suspected suicide bomber, on Monday.
A spokesman for the CTD said an operation was carried out on the basis of an intelligence report about the presence of suspected terrorists in the Derakhshan area, some 25km from the Quetta-Sukkur highway.

“A heavy exchange of fire took place between CTD personnel and armed terrorists who were equipped with heavy weapons,” the spokesman said, adding that as a result of the heavy firing two alleged terrorists belonging to a banned organisation were killed.
He explained that one of the terrorists was gunned down, while the other detonated his suicide vest during the exchange of fire. The official said suicide jackets, explosive materials, and weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Last week, security forces had killed nine alleged terrorists in an operation in the Khanai Baba area of Pishin district belonging to a banned outfit.
