ALOR SETAR: Foreign visitors coming here on social visit passes have been reminded to have everything in order.
Kedah Immigration deputy director (Control) Rosmaliza Mohamed Rashid said they must ensure they could provide evidence that they have a place to stay in Malaysia and have enough cash to sustain themselves, and fulfil all government requirements.
Such rules were once common knowledge, about two years ago, before the pandemic hit.
She said her department would be extra vigilant about social visit passes and be on the lookout for possible violations of those passes.
“We are ready to receive the influx of tourists via state border gate in Bukit Kayu Hitam,” she added.
Comm Wan Hassan said the force has ample resources and would work closely with other agencies to ensure that the influx of visitors at Bukit Kayu Hitam is kept under control.
His counterpart in Perlis, Dep Comm Datuk Surina Saad, said Perlis police were also geared up for the reopening of the Wang Kelian border gate.
“We have increased patrols and assigned our officers and personnel along the state border with Thailand,” she said.
Other elements of crime prevention efforts were reviewed and have been reinforced.
