KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional leaders gathered at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (April 14) for a special breaking of the fast event organised by Umno.
Orphans and the needy were also welcomed and feted at the event.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who was also present, said that such an event had not been possible for some time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"For so long, we have not been able to enjoy an atmosphere like this as social and religious activities could not be organised over the past two years due to the pandemic.
"Thankfully, our country has entered the transition to endemic phase from April 1, 2022, allowing such activities to be held," the Ayer Hitam MP said in a Facebook post Thursday.
He was joined at the event by MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.
"Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan were also present at the event.
"Also in attendance were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Barisan Nasional advisory board chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak as well as Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Shahril Suffian Hamdan," the Transport Minister said in his post.
