JOHOR BARU: A total of 18 policemen and one administrative officer from the Johor police contingent were dismissed in 2021 for various offences, says Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay

       He added that 11 more policemen came under investigation for disciplinary cases and pending resignation between January and November of this year.

       Comm Ayob said that he was responsible for each and every policeman and officer in the state and would not tolerate any serious offence that tarnishes the force's reputation.

       "Serious action will be taken if the policemen and women are in cahoots with criminal activities such as bribery, working with criminal groups or individuals, involved in drug abuse and other crimes,” said Comm Ayob.

       "Although we have provided a great service for the people this year, we still have to struggle and be responsible in fighting against crime, regardless of whether we are criticised or extorted," he added, saying that he will not let his force be insulted.

       He said this during a speech at the Johor police contingent monthly general assemble for December, at the Johor police contingent headquarters, here on Sunday (Dec 12).

       Comm Ayob added that the Johor police contingent Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) had also managed to address 228 reports out of the 256 reported cases within the same period.

       Comm Ayob also informed that the Johor Criminal Investigation Department had also recorded a 40% drop in criminal activities from 6,726 cases from January to November last year to 4,036 cases within the same period this year.

       "Violent crime has also dropped 32% this year, while property crime has also dropped 41%.

       "The Johor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department have also arrested 12,828 people for various drugs offences with more than 12 tonnes of drugs worth RM375mil confiscated," he said adding that the police have also confiscated assets worth RM30mil in the same period.
