PETALING JAYA: Though her raunchy bare-all for Penthouse got many hot under the collar, social media influencer Siew Pui Yi remains cool and calm about the criticisms against her.

       This, she says, was because she enjoyed the full support of her family.

       The social media creator, nicknamed Sugar, said her parents and other family members were proud of what she does, her business and modelling career.

       "I shared the news with my family that I was featured on the magazine's cover and my mum was happy with it," she said in an interview, adding that they were not shy or embarrassed about what she did.

       "My parents and family support me as long as I am happy."

       However, she declined to reveal how much she was paid for the job.

       "It is not about the digits (payment). It is a portfolio for me. I am proud to be featured in the magazine."

       Pui Yi, 23, moved out of her parents' home about five years ago to live independently and build her career.

       The Penangite, who was born in Kuala Lumpur but grew up in Penang, worked part-time as a promoter, showgirl, model and went to college to obtain her business degree.

       "Every time I go back to see my parents, I share my achievements and progress with them. They are proud of me. I am glad they are with me."

       Aside from building her career as an influencer and managing her social media profiles with her sexy pictures, she also has her fans channel, a subscription-based network that features her in nude and raunchy poses and activities.

       Pui Yi, who has 16 million followers on her Instagram, was approached by adult magazine Penthouse about a year ago to do the nude photos.

       She said she was uncertain then, but after a series of negotiations and meetings with the magazine representatives, she finally agreed to do the shoot two months ago.

       Pui Yi was featured on the magazine's January/February edition cover with a dozen other naked pictures of her inside, featuring her Asian beauty. She was also named Penthouse Pet of the month.

       She also hopes to be a Victoria's Secret model, adding that she wanted to fulfil that dream.

       Pui Yi also has over 20 people working for her to manage her social media, produce her videos and run her campaigns on the Internet.

       She also has a full-time personal assistant-cum-photographer who accompanies her everywhere.

       On her erotic and raunchy pictures and videos on her subscription channel, she said that was her way of expressing her body art to her fans.

       "I am a content creator. The whole project was supposed to be a personal experience for me and my fans. So, it depends on how you look at it."

       As an artistic art fan, she said she is not shy to show off her body or worry about criticism.

       "It is how I feel about myself. I feel good. I am happy about that. I have no problem with it.”

       Pui Yi said she made seven figures on social media that featured her.

       "I have been doing this for over a year," she said.

       However, she is not sure if her parents had watched the content for her fans and has no intention to ask them.
