KOTA KINABALU: A 15-year-old boy drowned after slipping off a bridge in a village in Sipitang on Saturday (May 7).

       The state Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said the body of the teen was retrieved on the same day at 1.21pm by family members near the location where he fell.

       Earlier, a distress call was received at 12.20pm, alerting that the victim slipped off and fell into the river while crossing a bridge at Kampung Banting.

       "The victim was declared dead after failing to resuscitate him.

       "His remains had been handed over to the police for further action," said the state Fire and Rescue Department spokesman on Sunday (May 8).
