> A housewife has sought legal advice about her marriage status after her husband pronounced the taklik (annulment) to her as a means to stop her from getting the Covid-19 vaccine, Berita Harian reported.
She received her first dose of the vaccine without his knowledge.
The housewife, who declined to be identified, had sought advice from a syariah lawyer to know whether the taklik is valid.
Syariah lawyer Maryam Wafda Kamilen said the couple was in a long-distance marriage.
“When they were talking on the phone about vaccine, her husband forbade her from taking it and that he would pronounce the taklik if she did so,” said Maryam Wafda.
“We urge housewives facing such a situation to file a case at the Syariah Court.”
